Sinatra Music Calms Sick Seals

When you write a blog about a great, albeit deceased,  entertainer, chances are that when there are no new recordings or DVDs to discuss that you’re going to occasionally find yourself dealing with the kind of news that some might consider a little ’soft.’ This problem is compounded during the Summer months when sane people have gone on vacation and new releases are held up until the Christmas buying season begins in the Fall.

I’m not trying to engender any sympathy here, since I’m the one who picked the topic for this blog. What can I say? I like Frank; I suppose news items like this come with the territory.

The most recent example of this came several days ago when a man claiming to be Sinatra’s son was arrested for fraud.

And now this:  Workers at an animal sanctuary in Norfolk, United Kingdom, have discovered that playing Frank Sinatra tunes to sick seal pups helps them to get better.  No word on which songs have the most desirable effect, but my money is on How Deep is The Ocean?

UPDATE: The article at this link provides a little more detail than the link I originally provided.
