I can’t recall that there was ever a time when so many new Sinatra products were to be concurrently released. This coming Tuesday promises to be a bonanza for fans, with a stamp, new music and a mound of new DVD releases on tap.  Keeping track of everything can be bewildering. Here is a brief summary of everything that is to be released on that day:

The Stamp
Ten years after his death, The US Postal Service has finally seen fit to release a stamp commemorating the life and legacy of Frank Sinatra. The stamp will be available at your local post office or can be purchased online. (I don’t know if this site accepts orders from outside the United States; this might be the best way for international fans to get this stamp.)

The Music
Nothing But The Best is a compilation CD that contains some of the best tracks from Sinatra’s Reprise era. The highlight of the set for collectors is going to be the previously unreleased track, “Body and Soul”. A special edition of this CD that includes the postage stamp and first-day cancellation will be available in limited quantities. These are bound to be a popular item.

The DVDS

Among the list of DVDs to be released are several box sets and numerous individual titles. Many of these titles have never before been available on DVD. The notable items include The Rat Pack Ultimate Collector’s edition and the Sinatra mini-series (from ‘92). There are even a few titles that I thought might never make it to DVD, such as The Kissing Bandit. All of the titles contained in the box sets are also availably singly.
