Free Sinatra Short Film Download: The House I Live In

The House I Live In

Most fans have heard of this one, but for those who haven’t… Frank Sinatra was featured in a short film produced in 1945 to promote racial and religious tolerance, a cause he would promote throughout his lifetime. The film was well received and won a special academy award in 1946. This film has now, apparently, fallen into the public domain and one of my favorite Internet sites has it in downloadable format.

Click here to visit Archive.Org’s The House I Live In web page and grab your very own copy. It comes in various resolutions (file sizes) and is perfect for copying to your iPod or Iphone for viewing on-the-go. While you’re visiting Archive.Org, don’t forget to do a ‘frank sinatra’ search to see some of the other items available, which I’ve previously written about.

This featurette was shown in my elementary school when it was first made in 1945. I was 12 and was very impressed and I remember almost all the lyrics to this day. Thanks for making it available.
