The month of May is shaping up to be a big one for Sinatra fans. In addition to all the new DVD releases, now comes news of a brand new CD.
From the press release: “On May 13, Reprise will release NOTHING BUT THE BEST, a single-disc collection from Sinatra’s Reprise Years that features 22 classic cuts remixed and remastered from the original master tapes, plus a previously unreleased recording of “Body And Soul” featuring a new arrangement. The compilation will be available in physical and digital formats, online at www.franksinatra.com, and in more than 7,000 Post Offices across the country. For a limited time, each CD will contain a collectible, commemorative Sinatra stamp with official USPS first-day issue cancellation. The stamp was unveiled in December 2007 by the U.S. Postal Service and will go on sale May 13. ”
I’m not sure how a previously unreleased recording of Body and Soul could somehow have a new arrangement. Time will tell. Amazon has the track listing for this CD here: Nothing But The Best

“A swaggering powerhouse…”
Frank Sinatra embodied the above phrase as a singer and performer. I travel all over the U.S. singing “traditional pop” music, much of it songs made famous by Sinatra. He charmed, he moved, he cheered, he captivated listeners the world over. At times moving, stirring, authoritative, toe-tapping, stirring, eloquent, he rushed through a very busy life and career and he left behind hundreds of extraordinary recorded performances — and brilliant orchestra arrangements — by the finest arrangers and musicians of the both his time and all time. I am on a personal journey to re-commission many of those arrangements — presently as piano scores — to both pay tribute to Frank and personally for my own personal growth. LIKE TONY BENNETT once stated, “I’m on a personal journey to communicate how beautiful life is…. and I’m far from finished…” ** Free (rough) demo… send name & address to TONY RIZZI, Smooth Crooner, POB 2549, Mill Valley Ca 94942 (www.youtube.com/gordonmary) * The Music Never Ends…
