Andre 3000, rapper with Outkast, has signed on to play Sammy Davis Jr. in an upcoming film that documents the problems encountered by Sammy during his romance with Kim Novak in the 1950s. Interestingly, this film is just one one four - count ‘em: four - films slated to be produced about Sammy, one of which is being directed by Denzel Washington and is based on In Black and White: The Life of Sammy Davis Jr ,written by Washington Post reporter Wil Haygood.

There have been no truly great films yet produced about Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr. and I hope that something good comes out of at least one of these projects. The subject matter is extremely rich and you would think that sooner or later someone would get it right.
