Beginning this Sunday, May 24th, Nancy Sinatra will be hosting a new program on Sirius Satellite Radio at 5PM Eastern Time. The program is to be called “Nancy For Frank” and will include “favorite hits as well as rarely heard recordings by her father and other great artists dedicated to the time and spirit of Frank Sinatra.” In the press release, Nancy also goes on to state “I have some rarities that few people have heard until now,” which leaves me curious enough that I might take advantage of the 3-day free trial Sirius is presently offering to online listeners.
Many Sinatra-only programs or stations that catered to listeners of this brand of music have gone silent in recent years, leaving the Sirius offering most attractive to active and casual Sinatra fans alike. I invite the commentary of readers who may have already been listening to this programming. I’m sure many visitors would be interested in hearing about this new station.

Hey Thanks For This! When I grew up in NY back in the 70s, there was a radio programme on WNEW every Sunday from like 7 pm to 10 pm dedicated to Frank. I loved the DJ - anyone remember his name? He always referred to Frank at the beginning and end of the show as Francis Albert! I miss the good old days of radio. Ed - The Music Man
I listened to Nancy’s show today (Wednesday) and it was terrific. The spotlight album was The Reprise Rep’s “South Pacific,” and it (the entire album!)was wonderful listening. To hear FS’ solo “Some Enchanted Evening” and then, later on in the hour, hear the great duet with Rosemary Clooney, was as good as it gets! Nancy’s commentary was very special. I always thought of the Sinatras as “part of the family,” and Nancy makes you feel right at home. Sirius is a “must-have,” if you can afford it. I think it’s $9.95 a month (my Wife pays the bills). If you love The Great American Songbook, and its Greatest Interpreter, Sirius 75 (that’s the dial position) is the best value going (sounds like a commercial)!
Having been a real Frank Sinatra fan since about 1939, he has never left our family, in spirit. We play his albums all the time. I have been wondering how Nancy, Frank and Tina are doing, and if any of them have e-mail addresses that can be used by their fans.
Thanks for responding,

Re: SIRUS
I received a free trail subscription for 6 months with my new car. To be frank (no pun intended) I only listen to a couple of programs. Sinatra on channel 75 being one of them. The format of the show from what I heard the past month is identical to “High Standards” formally “Franks Place” on XM radio channel 73 without Jonothan Schwartz and his insight and sharing of his impressive knowledge of Sinatra and the other great singers. I liked the XM show very much. Then Nancy and the Sinatra Family came along and ended the XM Frank’s PLace format The show seems alittle empty now. Since Frank is gone and the recording stopped yeaes ago I am wondering what the family hopes to gain by releasing a live recording from their privaate vault or a rare recording evrey now and then. It is all about money when all is said and done isn’te it?
Getting back to SIRUS I am not sure I am going to renew after the 6 month freebee expires. I love Frank and his music but his SIRUS show plays the majority of what I have aquired in LP’s and CD’s the past 40 years.
In summary, the sound quality is okay on SIRUS but the majority of the programs are not for me. SIRUS and XM are in processing of negotiating a merger. Depending on who you talk to it would take a few months or a year to finalize and go to broadcasting under the merger. When and if that happens it should be interesting to see how the programming is affected and where “our music:, the music of Frank Sinatra and the Great American Songbook library falls.
We are defintely Sinatra fans! Our daughter is named Nancy, our son has a room of Sinatra things and my husband has almost all of his records and cd’s.
To help our son we are having a street sign made “Frank Sinatra Drive” with the Rancho Mirage street color.
Even our young grandsons know who he is and can sing some of his songs.
We volunteer at the Sinatra Center and enjoy that so much we can’t begin to explain.
We listen to Nancy every Sunday and enjoy all the extra “tibits” she gives.
Thanks for such an enjoyable radio program.

How cool, I must get that recording some how. I still love “Boots”, and here is my sham ripoff at http://www.realcrash.com/greenie-boots-made-for-walking/.
Frank Sinatra recorded two renditions of the standard titled, I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter. On Sirius radio the later rendition was played, which a assume was recorded with Reprise. Do you know on what CD(s) this later renditiona appears? Thank you.
I believe the rendition of which you refer was on the Sinatra Basie album:

To Ed…the Music Man:
I just read your comments from last year.
The show on WNEW in New York (the greatest station ever!) was on from 10 AM to either noon or 1 PM every weekday.
The host, who passed on at an early age, was William B. Williams, probably the best DJ ever.
Also on that station on Sunday mornings, you may have heard Jonathan Schwartz, who is now on XM Radio pretty much every day. He is, in my estimation, the leading authority today on Pop music and a true Sinatra historian. His dad wrote many songs and some broadway shows.
Anyone else remember any of this? Ah, the good old days….
Hi Nancy,
Can you tell me if these two albums are available on CD’s? I have been trying to find them for years with no luck.
“This is Sinatra Vol 2″, recorded in 1958. Capitol number W982 and
“Look to your Heart” Capitol W1164.
I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Thank you.
Chris
