I’ve previously written about Sinatra autographs and the need for caution when purchasing one found at an online auction. This caution should apply to other items as well, such as this obviously fake Sinatra concert poster from 1947. Knowledgeable fans will recognize a few problems with this item that I found listed on Ebay:
- Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey had a well known falling out after Sinatra broke his contract with Dorsey in the early 1940s. It was many years before they appeared on stage together. It is certain that Dorsey wasn’t promoting Sinatra shows in 1947.
- The Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas didn’t open its doors until 1955; having a concert there in 1947 would have been a neat trick.
There’s lots of great Sinatra collectibles on Ebay, folks. But this ain’t one of ‘em.

Hi!
I’ve got what i think is a not to leagal Cd. On that cd, at least, Sinatra and Tommy D are joking around on stage during the radio program “Songs for Sinatra”. Tommy is featured in an instrumental called “Never To Late to Pray.” And the year was 1945. Cirka 3 years after the contract was broken.
sincerly,
Lennart Dunker
