Sinatrabilia: A Man & His Music Rarity

Here’s a rarity you don’t often see. This is a first-edition release of the commemorative A Man and His Music on Reprise. While it often turns up in online auctions, what makes this copy so special is that the first edition was autographed by none other than Sinatra himself. The opening bid on this one […]

Time Magazine’s All-Time 100 Albums

Time Magazine released their list of the 100 greatest albums of all-time. Not surprisingly, Sinatra’s in there with Songs for Swingin’ Lovers and In The Wee Small Hours. I could think of a few more that should be on that list, including Where are You? and Frank Sinatra Sings For Only The Lonely. But perhaps […]

Sands Hotel & Casino, NJ Closing

Today’s Press of Atlantic City has an article about the closing of The Sands Hotel and Casino in NJ. It seems that one by one all the reminders of Sinatra, no matter how small, are passing into history. The Sands was the home of Sinatra’s final public gigs in the US in 1994.

Edward R. Murrow - The Best of Person to Person

Edward R. Murrow’s Person to Person is probably the great-grandfather of all television interview shows. If you’re over a certain age you’re well familiar with this program. Several publications had reviews of […]

Not including my review of the new Vegas boxed set, over the past month I’ve written several posts about Sinatra’s history in Las Vegas, including some nice samples of memorabilia. To see them, just visit our Sands Hotel category and click on the titles to the individual posts you want to see.

Sinatra “Vegas” Boxed Set Review

Little more than a decade ago, if you wanted to purchase a live Frank Sinatra album you had few choices. The first of these is, of course, the venerable Sinatra at The Sands, which needs no introduction. The second was The Main Event, an abridged version of Sinatra’s triumphant return to public performance at New […]

Sands Copa Room Closing…Again

The Sands Copa Room, the legendary venue in which Frank Sinatra and many other great artists performed, is officially closing. No, not THAT Copa Room - the original in Las Vegas fell to the wrecking ball a decade ago - but rather the one in the Sands Hotel in NJ, where Sinatra performed his last […]
