Few people remember that during Sinatra’s ‘down’ period in the early 1950s he took a role as starring actor in a radio drama called Rocky Fortune. In this role, Sinatra played a ‘footloose and fancy free young man’, frequently unemployed, who took on a variety of adventurous occupations. The show lasted for 25 episodes before being canceled.
Given that Sinatra never again performed in a non-musical radio series, Rocky Fortune is an interesting footnote in his career. As it happens, some of these episodes can be heard online.
